Next semester, I plan to teach a class on local history, which will include oral histories. I trained in this myself about a zillion years ago, and have no idea what's current.
Could anybody recommend a couple of good texts or articles as a guide for students on oral history: why and how?

Thu, November 8, 2007 - 6:15 AMNot oral tradition, per se, but oral histories--accounts given in the first person by an individual who lived through an event or in a particular place. The course will be on local histories, and a major component will be interviewing locals about specific topics that the students choose.
